Scholarships for shortage occupation

These scholarships are intended to encourage young people to enroll in educational programmes for professions where there is a noticeable gap on the labor market between the current and future number of available workers and the projected demand for jobs. Shortage fields and educational programmes are defined in the Scholarship Policy (2025–2029), adopted by the Government of the Republic of Slovenia.

Objectives of Scholarships for Shortage Occupations:

  • ensuring an adequate workforce on the labor market in line with employer demand,

  • encouraging enrollment in types and fields of education that promote economic development and improve employability,

  • providing employment opportunities in fields where foreign workers are traditionally employed,

  • encouraging enrollment in secondary vocational and technical education programmes that currently lack sufficient interest and are at risk of being discontinued,

  • promoting vocational and technical education.
